More About EF/(S)R
We do not naturally develop Executive Function (EF) and Self Regulation (SR) skills -- we do however have the potential to develop them. These skills allow us to focus, plan, organize, prioritize, execute, remember and control our impulses. These are crucial life skills necessary for doing everything from understanding ourselves, creating healthy relationships and learning vital skills that enable us to be successful in contributing to our families, community and making positive choices for personal growth. By providing practice opportunities and support to develop these areas we are supporting essential life skills that will last a life time.
"Executive function is a set of mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. We use these skills every day to learn, work, and manage daily life. Trouble with executive function can make it hard to focus, follow directions, and handle emotions, among other things."
