I specialize in resilience building, regulation, executive function and effective communication coaching for children, teens, adults and families. Together we create 'potential plans' using art, creative expression, academics or other areas of interest and need to develop the skills for an authentic and fulfilling life. Services are offered for individuals, families, workshops and consultations. |

I grew up in a family of educators and have been working in the field in various roles in both public and private settings since 1998. I opened SHINE in 2011 with a vision to provide quality person-centered support to children and their families with a focus on executive function, critical thinking, regulation, social emotional and life skills coaching. Over the years I continued to grow with my clients' needs, further developing programming to include self care and well-being practices with emphasis on fostering confidence and self-esteem in order to empower individuals and families.
I am a blessed Mama of an amazing and curious boy and find great joy in spending time with nature, in the warm sun and going on adventures big and small. As I continue to work in my private practice I am also working to launch a long time dream. In collaboration with other like minded parents and educators we have stared something special. I have been seeing Maria since I was a kid. I’m in high school now and I don’t think I would have made it this far without her help. She is taught me so much about my brain and how to take care of myself. I am more confident and believe in myself now. ~16 year old
From our intake call, I felt Maria really listened and understood. I left in tears because she was able to reach my child in a way no one has in just one session. I could see my baby making progress in as little as 10 session where all the years at school never could.

My favorite thing is I can email or text Maria whenever I need. She will text or set up a zoom call to help me when I get stuck in between sessions. Her forms are fun too with little messages and tips.

We’ve never raised a concern with Maria that she wasn’t able to help me with her response is always “we’ll let’s figure this out together”. It’s nice to talk to someone but it’s so good for us to have someone to make a plan and get out from feeling like there’s a huge problem. And having a way to address it as a manageable challenge.

Maria is a lot of fun. She can drive you crazy sometimes but I know she is really doing it to help me. She showed me how much progress I made with our forms and tracker activities. I didn’t realize how much I’ve changed and when I look back I am feeling a lot better and things I thought were hard are much easier now. ~13 year old
Sometimes I just make appointments to talk things over with Maria. Her insight is so helpful and I never feel judged or criticized as a person or parent. Maria has offered valuable insight that has allowed me to grow as a person and mother. I have learned so much about myself and understand my kids and other’s so much better.
